FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CAMPUS STORE AND THE TEXTBOOK DEPOT?
The Campus Store is located on the first floor of the Kopp Student Center, and is the place to find supplies, food, clothing—everything you need, except for textbooks. Textbooks can be found in the lower level of the Kopp Student Center, in the Textbook Depot. Please call 952-358-9251 for inquiries about textbooks and 952-358-9250 for other inquiries.
HOW DO I BUY MY TEXTBOOKS?
Textbooks can be purchased in person at the Textbook Depot, or ordered online by clicking here. Orders placed online can be shipped to you (for an extra charge) or picked up at the Textbook Depot at your convenience. For online orders, you will immediately receive an e-mail confirmation that your order was received and later, another e-mail will inform you when your order has been filled, your account charged and your books are ready to be picked up. No charge will occur until your books are ready. Please wait for your second e-mail before trying to come in and pick up your web order. A photo ID is required to pick up your web order. All books purchased after the end of the second week of the semester are not returnable. Summer session textbooks are only returnable within the first week of the session.
WHAT IS THE BOOKSTORE DOING TO DECREASE TEXTBOOK PRICES FOR STUDENTS?
The bookstore encourages faculty to adopt and use open textbooks. We provide students the option to compare our prices with a number of other outlets like Amazon and Chegg through Verba Compare (found here). As of Fall 2017, we've begun our Digital Access initiative, which provides course materials directly through D2L at a significantly reduced rate. More information on Digital Access can be found below.
ARE USED BOOKS AVAILABLE FOR MY CLASS?
Used textbooks are available in limited quantities for many classes on a first-come, first-served basis.
CAN I SELL MY USED TEXTBOOKS?
Textbook Buyback happens almost every day the Textbook Depot is open!
DO I NEED A WEBSITE ACCOUNT TO ORDER BOOKS ONLINE?
Yes, you will need to create an online account that will be used by the Textbook Depot to manage your order and shipping information. You must use your Normandale e-mail address and Tech ID if you plan to pay using either Financial Aid or Third-Party Accounts.

Please note that the deadlines for returning textbooks ordered online are the same as those purchased in store. Any web orders that are not picked up within 6 weeks of being processed will be refunded and returned to stock, minus a 15% restocking fee.

Financial aid cannot be used to purchase clothing or food items. Please note that you will physically have to sign a form authorizing the use of the excess financial aid. Yes, see our listing here.
I FORGOT TO RETURN MY RENTAL TEXTBOOKS BY THE DEADLINE. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?
If rental textbooks are not returned by the listed deadline, students will be charged the difference between that textbook's rental price and its purchase price, plus an unreturned fee. The student will then own that textbook and can do with it what they please, including selling it back to the Textbook Depot or a third party to recoup some of its value.
WHAT IS DIGITAL ACCESS?
Through partnerships with several publishers, we can now provide course materials directly through D2L, eliminating the need for one-time-use access codes and long waits in line, all while providing savings. Students are provided a two week trial after which they can either opt in and have the cost of the materials added to their tuition statement or opt out and acquire a physical textbook.
